Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a way of communication founded by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg based on the principles of nonviolence and compassion.
NVC gives us concrete, powerful tools for expression and listening with love and authenticity, it also facilitates connection, understanding and care, and it cares for the needs of all. In neuroscience, NVC supports us in naming emotions, which is one of the effective way for our body-mind to integrate and calm our emotions. The way NVC supports us to connect with our values and needs as human also helps reframe our experiences of the world, which is also an important way to regulate our emotions in neuroscience.
In 2003, UNESCO listed NVC as the best practice of nonviolent conflict resolution tool within the field of global formal and informal education. Gaia Education, a global network that facilitates ecovillage education also considers NVC as an important resource to conflict resolution.
