Data Ownership Policy Statement

Introduction:

At humansWeb, we are committed to respecting and protecting the rights of our interviewees and storytellers. We understand the importance of the stories shared with us and seek to ensure they are handled with care and respect. This policy outlines the rights of storytellers in relation to the content they provide, including approval rights, licensing, and the process for making amendments or requesting content removal.

Approval of Content Before Publishing:

  1. Pre-Publishing Approval: All storytellers and interviewees have the right to review and approve the final draft of their story before it is published on the Human Library Ethnography website. This step ensures that all shared content accurately represents the storyteller’s experiences and perspectives.

  2. Amendments Prior to Publishing: If any changes are required or desired by the storyteller, these must be communicated and agreed upon before the content goes live on our platform.

Use of Content - Creative Commons Licensing:

  1. Non-Commercial Use License: Once a story is published, it is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license. This means that the story can be shared and adapted by others, as long as it is not used for commercial purposes, and proper credit is given to the original author.

  2. Rights to the Story: Storytellers retain their rights to their stories. The Creative Commons license simply allows others to share or adapt the work non-commercially, while ensuring that the storyteller is credited for their original creation.

Amending or Removing Content:

  1. Process for Amendments or Removal: If a storyteller wishes to amend or remove their story from the Human Library Ethnography website after it has been published, they must send an email to info@humans.asia.

  2. Required Information: The email request must include identity proofs and justifications for the requested changes or removal. This is to ensure that the request is legitimate and to protect the integrity of the content shared with our audience.

  3. Review and Action: Upon receiving a request, our team will review it promptly and take the necessary action in accordance with the storyteller’s wishes, ensuring that the process is handled sensitively and efficiently.

Conclusion:

Human Library Ethnography values the trust and participation of all our storytellers. We are dedicated to ensuring that your stories are shared responsibly and with respect. Should you have any questions or concerns about our Data Ownership Policy, please do not hesitate to contact us.
