這概念最初由瑪希・艾波赫(Marci Alboher)在著作《不能只打一份工:多重壓力下的職場求生術》(One Person Multiple Careers: A new model for work/life success)介紹,書中介紹了年青人利用多重僱用來增加收入(Alboher, 2007)。
“Slash/Slashers/Slash Generation/Slash Identity” are trending terms that originated from the symbol “ / ” (Slash). It generally means one would have varieties when he/she introduces own occupation. You can be a doctor/actor, photographer/Chinese medicine practitioner, mother/lecturer/busker/taxi driver. This slash concept was first introduced in the book One Person Multiple Careers: A new model for work/life success (Alboher, 2007), which explored the tendency of people to have multiple career in order to gain sufficient income for living. With the wide spreading of the slash effect, people who identified themselves as “Slasher/Slashie” construct their career and identity. More Slasher/Slashie consider “Slash” helps them to pursue the lifestyle they want (Kuang, 2017; 圓神出版‧書是活的, 2017). For younger generation, this lifestyle can be an alternative to traditional career path (i.e. work from 9 to 5 in office) . For elder generation, this lifestyle can be an enhancement of their lives after retirement (蔡東豪, 2017).
